MEDMB IT was founded in 2020 by Mike Bailey after 19 years working in medical engineering across radiology departments in South Africa. The problem was clear: most IT companies didn't understand DICOM workflows. They couldn't configure hanging protocols, didn't know why studies weren't routing to the right workstation, and treated PACS like just another database. Radiologists and technologists deserved better.
We started with mammography imaging clients in Gauteng, building Orthanc-based PACS deployments and integrating iCAD Profound AI for breast cancer detection. From day one, the focus was on getting the clinical workflow right — proper DICOM networking, reliable HL7 integration, worklists that actually work, and support from people who speak the same language as the radiographers and radiologists using the systems.
Today, MEDMB IT serves over 10 healthcare facilities across South Africa and Zimbabwe, supporting around 100 clinical users. We remain a specialised, hands-on team based in Benoni, Gauteng — small enough to pick up the phone when something breaks, experienced enough to design imaging infrastructure that doesn't.
